The classified results still gave fans joy – even if we all knew the scores

It doesn’t take much for a media storm to brew. Take something traditional, ditch it without giving any notice and stand back to assess the damage. Removing the classified football results from the BBC Sports Report programme at 5pm on a Saturday was always going to set teeth gnashing up and down the country.

I know I’m possibly a dinosaur who should let go of things such as this, but I’m still trying to get over the loss of Teletext so cut me some slack. Yes, we all have access to football results at our fingertips now. Personally I love the fact that checking the latest scores when out and about has progressed since the 1980s. But there is surely still a space for something as cherished as the classified football results.

Bad owners could be forced to sell clubs by new English football regulator

The proposed regulator for English football will have the power to strip bad owners of their right to run a club and to force them to sell up their holdings, as the scope of its abilities – and limitations – came into focus at the start of a long-awaited legislative process.

On Tuesday the government published the football governance bill that has taken two years of consultation to achieve and provoked internecine dispute between football’s stakeholder groups. Although there is now clarity around the regulator’s mission and its proposed approach, much of the detail is still to be decided and potentially amended by MPs.

How to Talk To Your New Girlfriend About Your Ex

First and foremost, congratulations on the decision to put your fuck parts together with another person's fuck parts in a more meaningful way than you were putting fuck parts together with others during the abysmal slog through Tinder you've been on since your break-up. Things are probably great: you two have stopped using condoms, you've saved her address in your Seamless account, and you're maybe even doing butt stuff already. This is cause for celebration, but also caution. Because a new relationship often requires that you talk about your old one. Talking about your ex is not just how you account for your romantic history, it is how you communicate your emotional intelligence, your taste, and whether or not your thoughts about women are baseline civil and humane.…

The 10 Movies I'm Most Excited To See At Sundance 2015

If the Oscar prognosticators are correct, next month
Boyhood will become the first film to both premiere at Sundance and win the Academy Award for Best Picture. Last year's festival had plenty of other highlights, too—Whiplash, Life Itself, The Raid 2, The Overnighters, A Most Wanted Man—so as we get ready for this year's edition, which starts Thursday, it's hard to pick just 10 movies I'm excited to see while I'm in Park City. But below are the titles that look the most intriguing—along with a couple of movies that are awfully interesting counterpoints. The End of the Tour
One of this year's most starry/prestigious entries tells the story of the unlikely friendship that developed between

Which 2013 NFL Draft Prospect Supposedly Tweeted So Much That A Team Lectured Him In A Meeting?

Sports Illustrated’s Kalyn Kahler has a long, detailed story out today over at the MMQB about the pitfalls and importance of scrubbing old tweets from NFL prospects ahead of the draft. There’s a lot of work that goes into preventing another Josh Allen situation. Sometimes, it’s fruitless, and other times, it’s over very dull tweets. Kahler writes that Allen’s agent performed a “review and scrub” of the QB’s Twitter account beforehand, only for him to get exposed anyway. Another agent successfully got a video of his client “naked and having a sexually explicit conversation” scrubbed from the internet, which he thinks would have prevented him from getting drafted. The story begins, though, with the anecdote of a 2013 draft prospect meeting with a team so eager to get…

The 2012 Olympic Relay Team Just Lost Their Silver Medals

When Tyson Gay was busted for doping last June, and then immediately fessed up to his transgressions, everyone expected that he'd cooperate with USADA in exchange for a lighter punishment. What they did not expect was that he'd sell out his relay teammates from the 2012 Olympics. As predicted, USADA just announced that Tyson Gay has been suspended for twelve months — half of what he deserved — in exchange for full and honest cooperation with authorities. Part of that cooperation involved admitting that he was ineligibly doped for all periods after July 2012, which unfortunately for his relay buddies, includes the London Olympics. Gay has already handed over his silver medal, and because the suspension is retroactive to the time of the failed test, he is eligible to compe…

NC State hungry to end Va. Tech's home hex, jump Hokies in ACC

North Carolina State and Virginia Tech will meet Saturday in an Atlantic Coast Conference game with plenty at stake in Blacksburg, Va. For starters, the Wolfpack (7-3, 4-2) and Hokies (5-5, 4-2) sit tied for third in the conference with North Carolina. Dave Doeren's North Carolina State squad has won three straight games since losing 24-3 at then-No. 17 Duke on Oct. 14. However, winning has not been part of the team's recent trips to Blacksburg. The Wolfpack won there just once in four tries since 2004, including three consecutive setbacks. Doeren has never won in Blacksburg. Also on the losing end of games against the Hokies is Wolfpack starting quarterback Brennan Armstrong, who returned to the lineup in Saturday's 26-6 victory over Wake Forest. Armstrong, a graduate…

Skip Bayless: Lakers Win and Clippers Loss is Ultimate Proof Kawhi Threatens and Haunts LeBron

data-mm-id=”_nle8imztf”>Skip Bayless reached Galaxy Brain again today on Undisputed. The day after LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers won a game and Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers lost a game, Skip made the case that LeBron is threatened, haunted, and tormented by Kawhi. "LeBron is incredibly threatened and haunted and tormented by the fact that Kawhi Leonard is taking over LeBron's stage at Staples in his town." — @RealSkipBayless pic.twitter.com/h8GYujB68Y— UNDISPUTED (@undisputed) November 14, 2019Even by daytime sports shouting talking head hot take standards, this one is a doozy. Skip's initial take is that Kawhi is taking over LeBron's "stage" at Staples Center. Again, this is the morning after LeBron won at Staples Center a…

No Harm, No Fowl: Inside 'Worst Cooking Show Ever' With Rachel Bonnetta

data-mm-id=”_neit0anqw”>Rachel Bonnetta isn't made for quarantine life. Well, none of us are. Not really. But the quarantine, and lack of sports that comes with it, has hit the active FOX Sports personality especially hard. Before everything shut down, Bonnetta was on TV every day in some way, shape, or form, whether it was as host of Lock It In or any of the other myriad roles she plays for FOX. Now? Bonnetta is stuck with nothing to do but sit on the couch and binge, just like everyone else. "I’m creative and I just need to do stuff. I binged The Sopranos from start to finish and I felt like a dirty, rotten person. Just sitting on the couch all day. I was like, 'You know what, I had my binging time. Now I have to make things and make use of myself,'" Bonnet…
