It doesn’t take much for a media storm to brew. Take something traditional, ditch it without giving any notice and stand back to assess the damage. Removing the classified football results from the BBC Sports Report programme at 5pm on a Saturday was always going to set teeth gnashing up and down the country.
I know I’m possibly a dinosaur who should let go of things such as this, but I’m still trying to get over the loss of Teletext so cut me some slack. Yes, we all have access to football results at our fingertips now. Personally I love the fact that checking the latest scores when out and about has progressed since the 1980s. But there is surely still a space for something as cherished as the classified football results.

Sports Illustrated’s Kalyn Kahler has a long, detailed story out today over at the MMQB about the pitfalls and importance of scrubbing old tweets from NFL prospects ahead of the draft. When Tyson Gay was busted for doping last June, and then immediately fessed up to his transgressions, everyone expected that he'd cooperate with USADA in exchange for a lighter punishment. What they did not expect was that he'd sell out his relay teammates from the 2012 Olympics. As predicted, USADA just announced that Tyson Gay has been suspended for twelve months — half of what he deserved — in exchange for full and honest cooperation with authorities. North Carolina State and Virginia Tech will meet Saturday in an Atlantic Coast Conference game with plenty at stake in Blacksburg, Va. For starters, the Wolfpack (7-3, 4-2) and Hokies (5-5, 4-2) sit tied for third in the conference with North Carolina.
